Everybody knows the main attractions of Barcelona as Sagrada Família, Montjuic, Parc Guell, food, beach,..etc, but not many people knows about some secrets spots. Charming places that had been keep it for hundreds of years.

If you visit a Gothic Quartier is a must to visit the remains of the Temple of Augustus. There is a corner resulting inspiring , certainly is the medieval courtyard Paradis Street , number 10. There you ‘ll find four columns that had once been part of the Temple of Augustus. They have more than 2000 years old and measure 9 meters high.

As recently in the history walking through the city you can see some evidences of the Civil War in 1936. The bombing forced to make authentic engineering works underground to ensure survival. Today , some of these bomb shelters are open . It is the case of Refuge Diamond Plaza , built 13 meters deep , with a length of 250 meters and up to 200 people . To visit you must make a prior reservation on 0034 932 196 134. It is also interesting dive into the so called ” retreat 307 ” ( street Nou de la Rambla) , 169. Consists of 400 meters of tunnels 1.6 m wide and 2 meters high , and can still be distinguished rooms such as toilets or nursing . refugio_diamante_barcelona Also if you want to skape of the tourism mass near the Catedral you can find the Plaza Sant Felip Neri. A magical spot built on an medieval cemetery. Despite its beauty , keep a tragic history: January 30, 1938 , during the Spanish Civil War, two Italian aircraft bombs fell on the square , killing 42 people , mostly children . Look at the wall of the baroque church of Sant Felip Neri and see the furrows left by the explosions. Do not miss it! Beautiful and inspiring streets to walk around and to have a drink. There is a special bar named, “Els quatre gats”, was inagurated in 1897, with a Parisian look, it used to be the meeting point of famous writers and paintings as Pablo Picasso, Santiago Rusiñol, Rubén Dario,..etc. Over time, the tavern , located in the Casa Marti building, the architect Puig i Cadafalch , had different functions. Today it is open under the same name , although it is a restaurant , and little remains of that source of inspiration in this tourist attraction.
