From saturday 15th of august until 23th of august will take place the most amazing street party in Gràcia neighbourhood.
The neighbourhood of Gràcia was an independent town before was absorbed into Barcelona at the end of the 19th century. Its community works hard in this annual Festa Major (‘big party’ in Catalan).
The main attraction is the street decoration competition, which sees some 25 associations strive to create the most elaborate and incredible metamorphosis of an ordinary road into, perhaps, a jungle, an underwater scene or a zombie hangout. The week-long party includes traditional Catalan culture, concerts and lots of street food and drink.
The Gràcia Festival is considered by many locals the best, nicest, most festive and most welcoming street festival. The Gracia neighbourhood is located 20 minutes by foot north west of the city centre of Barcelona in the direction of the hills to the west of Barcelona.
The street decoration competition is amazing. The neighbourds take the competition very seriously and the standards are high. A theme is chosen by each street and this can cover anything from politics, films,..etc. Walk through the streets of Gràcia and you will be amazed, each street is a different escenario.
Gracia Festival is FREE and crowded. Do not miss it! one of the best local experiences!
