Bread with tomato (Pa amb tomaquèt): We can find this basic food in almost every Catalonian table: bread with tomato used to complement almost every meal in Barcelona.
Escalivada: One of the most common typical dishes, it is easy to find it as an appetizer (tapa) at bars or restaurants. It is a dish made with pepper, eggplant, onion and cooked tomatoes with anchovies.
Calçots with salsa romesco: it is one of the most popular dishes of Catalonian gastronomy. During calçots season, tourists and locals like to enjoy this delicious dish. Calçots are a sort of onions that are grilled and then wrapped on newspaper to keep them warm. The outer layer gets burned and needs to be removed, therefore you can only eat the core, which you must soak on romesco sauce. Romesco sauce is made of tomatoes, peppers, garlic, almonds, bread and extra virgin olive oil. You don’t need a fork or plate to eat calçots, you must eat them with your hands!

Crema catalana: The sweetest moment comes with this dish, one of the most popular desserts from Catalonian cuisine, with international recognition. Crema catalana is a cream covered with a thin layer of caramelized sugar, which is meant to be broken with a spoon, according to tradition.
