You can smell it in the air; summer is just around the corner! It’s time to plan your vacations and Barcelona is the perfect city to enjoy culture, gastronomy and a wide variety of leisure activities throughout the whole year, but especially during the summer. We’ll tell you about our favourites in this article:

 

  1. Primavera Sound

 One the most international music festivals of Barcelona is the Primavera Sound, this year it will take place from May 30 to June 3. For this edition there will be world famous artists such as Artic Monkeys, Björk, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, The National, The War on Drugs and many more. You can find the entire lineup here.

 

  1. Pedralbes Festival

The sixth edition of the Pedralbes Festival will take place in Barcelona during the months of June and July and it will host artists from many different music styles such as Zaz, Fleet Foxies, Sara Baras, Pastora Soler, Niña Pastori or Miguel Ríos (among many others).   1. Gran Premi de Catalunya MotoGP

The motor fanatics have a date for June 15, 16 and 17 in Barcelona. Fun and excitement on wheels are guaranteed! You can buy your ticket here.

 

  1. Sónar Festival

Sónar Festival includes the International Festival of Advanced Music and the Congress of Creativity and Technology; another one of the big festivals of the Condal city, one that brings people from all over the world. This year it will take place from June 14 to 16, and their lineup includes artists such as 2manydjs, Black Coffee, Deep Resonance, Diplo, Gorillaz, Laurent Garnier or Richie Hawtin.   1. Festa Major de Gràcia

Starting on August 15, one of the most important parties of Barcelona will take place: the Fiesta Mayor de Gràcia; which is considered to be the party that most represents the barrio spirit. It consists of several celebrations which include the participation of the public and the representations of traditional and popular culture. The neighbours organize part of the celebrations and the result is almost a week of fun activities in every corner of the villa.

  1. Fiestas de la Mercè

The  Mercè parties end Barcelona’s summer with a flourish. They take place around September 24 to honour the patron the Mare de Dèu de la Mercè. The official schedule includes hundreds of activities that involve tradition and culture.
